A Tradition Of Awareness: Detroit Confronts Gun Violence During Pride Month
For the past decade, June in Detroit has been more than just the start of summer — it has also been Gun Violence Awareness Month.
What began in 2015 as a city resolution has grown into a sustained community effort to remember victims, support families, and confront one of the city's most painful and persistent problems.
This year's events, including a press conference and rally, once again brought together elected officials, violence prevention advocates, faith leaders, and affected families to highlight both progress and the heavy toll that gun violence continues to take.
