From Symbol To Transportation Asset? The Detroit People Mover's Uncertain Future
When the Detroit People Mover opened in 1987, it was supposed to be just the beginning.
City leaders envisioned an ambitious regional transit network with the elevated loop as its downtown core. That larger system never materialized. Now, nearly four decades later, the People Mover is getting fresh attention as Detroit looks toward the future of mobility.
